Program Description
Students will study anatomy and physiology of movement and gain a firm understanding of the human body and the musculoskeletal system. Through the CH Pilates Method modules, students will develop confidence in their own Pilates practice and will be trained to program Pilates sessions tailored to the needs of clients. Additionally, students will learn to work with other professionals in providing safe exercise within the Pilates teacher scope of practice. Students will learn Pilates modifications that may be offered to clients with special needs. Teaching skills including clear and concise instruction, promoting rhythm/flow in both group class and private session setting, cueing, and observation/assessment will be emphasized. Students will attend 96 hours of in-person lecture and hands-on practice labs under the instruction of Marlisa G. Eyre, NCPT and Leslie Williams, DPT. In addition to in-person modules, students will be required to independently log and obtain additional observation hours, practice teaching hours, and personal practice hours. Through regular assessment following individual modules and a final exam at the conclusion of the comprehensive program, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency and mastery of Pilates material and human anatomy and physiology related to movement. Upon successful completion of the 450 hour comprehensive CH Pilates Training School, graduates will be eligible to take the National Certified Pilates Teacher exam and acquire national/international recognition of competence. Please note: it is expected that students will complete all 6 modules. The remaining hours necessary for completion of the comprehensive Carriage House Pilates Training School must be arranged and completed individually. Carriage House Pilates & Wellness, LLC cannot guarantee employment or practice teaching hours at the studio (beyond the 24 studio hours that are built into the training program). Students in the program can gain practice hours at home and by booking Pilates sessions at the studio (discounted rates available via autorenewal). Additionally, observation hours can be arranged at CH Pilates & Wellness, based on availability. Students may complete the remaining hours for NCPT certification at their leisure but will not receive a Certificate of Completion of Comprehensive Pilates Training until all hours have been submitted to CH School of Pilates for review.
